On July 22nd and 23rd, head to Berwick for the 2nd annual World War II Weekend at the Riverfront Test Track Park (South Eaton Street). The event is presented by the Stuart Tank Memorial Association and will feature free admission and free parking. The celebration will be held 10 AM – 5 PM both days.
Berwick is the hometown of the Stuart Tank, which were essential to the U.S. war effort in WWII. A total of 15,224 tanks were built by workers at the American Car & Foundry Company (ACF). The special weekend celebration commemorates the efforts by Berwick area laborers in supporting their country during wartime. “Lady Lois”, one of the original Stuart Light tanks, will be at the event.
There will be WWII living history encampments, military vehicles & daily vehicle convoys, battle re-enactments, weapons demonstrations, historical displays, a military flea market, live Big Band music, Veteran support groups, and food vendors. On Saturday evening from 6- 9 PM, there will be a 1940’s themed swing dance at the Reliance Fire Hall in Berwick. The dance will also be free to the public. Music will feature Spirit of Swing Big Band.
