We have one of the few chemical-free fainting goat herds in the country, and have the very last of the Jilfan Sitam al Bulad Malabar Arabian horses, and are the only farm with these animals open to the public. Your guide Carrie is a published author (Acres USA) with extensive wildlife, conservation and animal experience. The tour includes all the rare goats, rare horses, gardens, ancient & modern farming techniques and our wildlife preservation efforts. Your tour begins at the main barn with a release form, safety orientation and bathroom break. Next there is some background about your hosts and their farming and livestock and wildlife experience. We then walk around the main barn, various gardens and the barnyard and pond, with a stop at the chicken house, meeting the animals and learning about all the different projects. You will feed and pet the goats, pet horses, and possibly hold a chicken or duck, while enjoying beautiful scenery and learning about farms. Our guests leave with an understanding of the animals as conscious beings with complex family structures, as well as an appreciation for the purpose of the heritage breeds and the importance of preservation. Guests also learn useful tips and tricks to take home to their own gardens and backyards, for gardening and helping wildlife and bees.
