The Geological Story of the Susquehanna River

August 14, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

FREE

Please join us for our August Fishing Creek Watershed Association meeting, when we are pleased to welcome Aaron Bierly, Senior Geologist with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.  He will be presenting “The Geological Story of the Susquehanna River and its tributaries in the greater Bloomsburg and Catawissa areas of Columbia County, Pennsylvania”. This geological story tells of the changing river drainage of the Susquehanna River during the Ice Age, and how it has shaped our local landscape. Aaron will also discuss some the modern-day river and sediment deposits which he has observed in his current geological mapping in the Catawissa Quadrangle.  Watersheds included in the talk are the Catawissa Creek Watershed, Fishing Creek Watershed, and Roaring Creek Watershed.  Those of you who have met Aaron Bierly at our Watershed Festivals know of his depth of knowledge and his infectious enthusiasm for geology.
