Paleontology in PA

January 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free Admission
The Vernal School is pleased to welcome paleontologist Dr. Jennifer Peteya from Bloomsburg University, for a special program titled Paleontology in Pennsylvania. The program scheduled for Sunday, January 19th, at 2:00 PM will be held in the auditorium of Montour Preserve’s Environmental Education Center.  Did you know that Pennsylvania’s geological history includes an array of prehistoric life, even dinosaurs? This family friendly program will provide an in-depth exploration of Pennsylvania’s ancient past.  This program will offer an overview of the fossils found in the state from dinosaurs to the fossils you can find in Montour Preserve’s fossil pit.  Those who attend will learn about the formation of fossils, the types of prehistoric creatures that lived in the region, and their significance. Whether you’re curious about early marine life or the role Pennsylvania plays in the broader field of paleontology, this program promises to be both educational and engaging.  This program open to the public and designed for all ages.  While this event is free to the public, your donation will help us cover costs and allow for future programming to continue to be offered at the Montour Preserve.
