From the Exchange Gallery
The Exchange Gallery will be raffling off a cigar-box guitar autographed by the band Cabinet.
Thanks to the generosity of a local woodworker, The Exchange received the gift of a handmade cigar-box guitar autographed by the members of Cabinet, and they will raffle off this one-of-a-kind collector’s item for the benefit of their Blues programming. Tuned for slide Blues, the four-string electric/acoustic guitar has a vintage 1969 Pennsylvania license plate as its sounding board, with a body of white oak and red oak, a neck of hard maple, and a fretboard of cherry bound with walnut – all of the wood harvested in Pennsylvania. Cabinet granted permission for the instrument maker to use for the band’s “keymoon” logo to appear on the headstock.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and will be available from now until the date of the drawing on Wednesday, September 27th.
Tickets can be purchased with cash or check at The Exchange, 24 East Main Street, Bloomsburg, including at its Destination Blues Listening Room concerts on the last Wednesdays of July, August, and September; at Endless Records, 7 East Main Street, Bloomsburg; at the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau’s Welcome Center; and at the Exchange table at theArtFest on Saturday, August 26th in downtown Bloomsburg. The drawing will take place at The Exchange on Wednesday, September 27th, during the intermission of that evening’s Listening Room, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. – the winner does not need to be present.

Destination Blues Listening Room Debuts
The Destination Blues Listening Room will make its debut at The Exchange on Wednesday, July 26th from 7 to 9 p.m. with Mike MiZ performing. A soulful, Rock-Americana artist from Northeast Pennsylvania, MiZ has built a reputation as a skillful and well-rounded master of both acoustic and electric guitar with a sound directly impacted by the anthracite-coal region of Pennsylvania. His songs evoke the rustic tones and imagery of the region and its cultural heritage. This regional favorite has wowed crowds for many years with his guitar playing, not to mention songwriting and singing. The Exchange will have 48 new chairs available along with a brand new sound system, thanks to the generosity of the PPL Foundation.
For the first Listening Room there will be no admission charge, but donations will be accepted at the door ($5 per person recommended) and BYOB is welcome. As part of its mission to bring the arts to all communities throughout our region, The Exchange will host the monthly Blues Listening Room in its storefront art gallery on the last Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m., regional Blues musicians will perform in our intimate space at 24 East Main Street, up close and personal. We will feature a range of acts – solo artists and small bands, acoustic and electric – in an atmosphere conducive to enjoying and experiencing the music: just a few dozen concertgoers, the musician(s), and the music.
On the 30th of August, Bobby Kyle will bring his decades of experience and all of his showmanship to the Listening Room. You’ve seen him at Destination Blues with his group The Administers. He was also part of the “Backstage Pass to the Blues” programs, where students from kindergarten through high school have found him irresistible. On the 27th of September, Clarence Spady returns to Bloomsburg. Also a veteran of the Destination Blues Festival, Clarence has breathtaking musical skills and talent, and charisma to burn.
