The Pioneer Tunnel announces the return of the Coal Region Christmas Train.
Join the Pioneer Tunnel for a magical 45-minute round-trip journey with the Grinch behind a decorated steam locomotive built in 1927 to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Christmas Retreat.
Upon arrival at the Pioneer Tunnel, guests check in at the gift shop. Each person receives a souvenir ticket. Passengers then proceed to the Staudenmeier Train Station to present the ticket stub for removal by the Conductor. The Grinch will be waiting for your arrival to take photos and to begin the journey. As you board the decorated open-car steam train, you will enjoy the sounds of Christmas music and holiday cheer; then you travel three-quarters of a mile to your destination.
When you have arrived at your stop, you will disembark from the train and be greeted by Mr. & Mrs. Claus at the heated Christmas Retreat. Everyone will feel the warm welcome, and each child will receive a free treat. Once all visitors have concluded their visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus, they will board the train and return to the Pioneer Tunnel gift shop.
