Master Gardener Basic Training: Columbia, Montour, and Northumberland Counties

An event every week that begins at 6:00pm on Thursday, repeating until March 14, 2019
Master Gardener Basic Training for three counties, Columbia, Northumberland, and Montour, will be offered starting Thursday, October 4, 2018 and will continue with once-a-week lectures through March 14, 2019. Classes will be Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:45 p.m. at the Columbia County Extension office in Bloomsburg.
Seating is limited. Applications must be received by September 13, 2018. A free public information session will be held Thursday, September 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Extension Office.
The training consists of 40 hours of horticultural education, covering botany, entomology, plant diseases, plant propagation, soil science and fertilizer management, composting, Integrated Pest Management, vegetables, indoor plants, weeds, woody ornamentals, native plants, and more.
To certify as a Penn State Master Gardener, a candidate must complete 40 hours of Basic Training, and fulfill 50 hours of volunteer service within a year following training. Each county may have additional requirements for certification.
